And if Vodka was speaking out of turn, and Gin found it disrespectful, it seems likely that Gin would correct him. If Gin is nothing more than Vodka's leader or boss, so to speak, it does not seem that Vodka would dare to speak so casually toward him. Gin tells Vodka that he is speaking too loud, and Vodka replies that no one is listening and then laughs and tells Gin that he is always so cautious, calling him by name. Also, he seems to feel perfectly at ease with addressing Gin by his codename occasionally instead of always simply calling him "aniki", the latter of which it seems he would do if Gin is nothing more than a higher-level agent to whom Vodka defers.įor instance, in the train bomb case in #4 of the manga, there is the infamous scene in which Conan first learns the agents' codenames. He speaks freely to his partner about their various plans and the results, and seems to enjoy being around him. When he is with Gin, however, he relaxes. He appears bewildered by Vermouth, as has been shown, and with the other agents, when he speaks with them, it is business at best. But otherwise he does not seem to care to associate often with other people. In matters of business, Vodka seems able to communicate quite well with others, such as with the businessman in the first episode. Vermouth later causes Vodka to become tongue-tied again, during episode #425. Later on in the scene, when Vermouth's taunting of Gin seems to border on flirting, Vodka is again astonished, this time by how brazen she is. This is seen at least twice during the nightclub scene in episode #230, first when Vermouth makes her entrance and gives one of her trademark phrases, "A secret is what makes a woman beautiful." Gin's response is to say how sickening the thought is. When watching them interact with each other, and then with other operatives, this is obvious.Īround Vermouth, for instance, Vodka seems to easily become flustered. They have worked together for what has likely been many years, and they have grown accustomed to and comfortable around each other. Gin and Vodka, the author's two favorite Black Org agents, have a unique rapport. Sherry will not be included because of her standing with the Organization.
This essay will focus on the current main members of the Black Organization. However, there are many interesting quirks that can be observed throughout the episodes and movies that show how three-dimensional they actually are, and which give hints to their relationships with each other. They seem mysterious and perhaps one-dimensional, if one only views them on the surface and sees them as the antagonists, the people on the other ends of the guns who give grief to the protoganists. The Black Organization operatives are a truly fascinating group of characters. It's All About Us: The Black Organization Members and Their Relations With Each Other I decided to post it here in case anyone is interested. I posted a first draft of it at that community, and since then I have been tweaking it around. Those at the Black Org HQ will remember an essay I was working on recently.
